Don't let back pain cause you miss out.
Our experienced team is here to help get you back to doing the things you love!
You want results. You want a plan. You want to get back to your life as quickly as possible. Our team at Lutheran Spine Center is here to help you heal and reach YOUR goals. We’ll guide you through the process, make sure you understand your treatment plan, and connect you to the right care at the right time—all while tracking your progress to make sure you’re seeing results.
Though sometimes necessary, surgery, injections and medication aren’t always the right answer. That’s why we provide you with access to many options for care. In many cases, non-surgical and conservative treatments will play a large role in your personalized treatment plan.
We understand the importance of providing you with a higher level of personalized care — and that’s why we’ve invested in the right people to provide the next level of coordinated care. This means that our extraordinary team of spine specialists work together to get you back to your life, all from one convenient location.
The Spine Center team believes that surgery isn’t always the best option. Our non-surgical treatment options can provide you with relief as we treat you over the long term. A variety of therapies work together to restore mobility, build strength and stability, and help you cope with the stress sometimes associated with spine pain.
Our non-surgical treatment options include:
Physiatry (also known as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) – A physiatrist is a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy who specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Physiatrists in our center have extensive expertise in treating all types of spinal disorders and serve as the “quarterbacks” of the treatment team in many cases. They also have expertise in treating other disorders of the musculoskeletal system that may be affecting your condition and level of function. Our physician assistant, who is also specially trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation, works closely with our physiatrist.
Physical Therapy – Optimal treatment of spinal disorders requires specialty training beyond basic physical therapy. Your spine condition will likely require a number of different treatment techniques, and our therapists are skilled in determining the most appropriate treatments to use during your course of rehabilitation. An active, exercise-oriented approach has been shown to be an essential part of treatment to get you back to your activities. To ensure the best outcome, we will instruct you not only on which exercises will be most beneficial, but also how to do them properly.
Behavioral Health – Our psychologist will help you cope with the stress and emotions that often accompany pain, such as fear, grief, anxiety, insomnia and worry about what your pain means and how long it will last. She is also trained in clinical hypnosis and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)—two interventions that have been proven effective in helping to reduce pain and improve quality of life.
The team at the Spine Center heals back pain from all angles. Holistic wellness treatments reduce the effects of back and neck pain on your body and your life. For some patients, learning to cope with stress and reduce physical and emotional tension as a part of the overall treatment plan can have major and lasting effects on back joints, muscles and ligaments, potentially helping to avoid surgery altogether.
