Lutheran Medical Center's Nurse Navigator will connect you with the right specialist.
Lutheran Medical midwives help you create a customized birth plan and support your delivery choices.
They do not make decisions for you, but are there to provide the right support and information so you can make your own informed choices about the care you receive before, during and after pregnancy.
Before Pregnancy: Your midwife will talk with you about birth control options and offer expert advice for achieving your best possible health before becoming pregnant.
During Pregnancy: Your midwife will guide you with advice about nutrition, exercise and planning for your baby’s birth.
During Labor: Your midwife will work with you to reduce the risk of complications by encouraging you and your partner to actively participate in the birthing process.
At Delivery: Your midwife will deliver your baby and provide immediate post-partum care, including helping with breastfeeding.
Following Birth: Your midwife will help ease your transition into motherhood with follow-up care after you are discharged from the hospital. Your midwife can also provide routine check-ups and additional healthcare needs.
Your Certified Nurse Midwife is well-prepared if complications arise.
At Lutheran Medical, your midwife has access to hospital services, and will work closely with a doctor to integrate the special medical care needed for high-risk pregnancy, complicated labor and birth, and cesarean sections.
Most insurance plans will cover care provided by a certified nurse midwife.
Insurance commonly covers prenatal visits, labor and delivery in a hospital setting as well as gynecologic care for the childbearing years and beyond. While there are no additional costs for using a midwife, we recommend you discuss your options with your insurance provider before making a decision.
